Psychotherapist working with gay men
Antonio Thomas LMSW
Anxiety & Depression
Anxiety and depression often stem from unseen emotional burdens — perfectionism, fear of judgment, shame, or the feeling of not being enough. For gay men, these experiences can be shaped by environments that don’t feel safe to be fully seen. In our work together, we’ll explore the roots of these struggles and develop tools to ease the inner pressure. Through a steady, reflective space, we work to restore calm, connection, and a deeper sense of self-trust.
Addiction & Shame
When behaviors start to feel out of control — substances, sex, or compulsions — they often carry deeper emotional meaning. Shame and low self-esteem, especially when internalized early, can fuel cycles of avoidance and disconnection. Together, we’ll understand the feelings driving these patterns, challenge self-limiting beliefs, and build healthier ways of coping grounded in self-worth rather than self-judgment.
Identity, Body, and Culture
In a culture that often prizes a narrow image of success, youth, and beauty — especially within gay communities — it's easy to fall into comparison or feel pressure to maintain a certain body or lifestyle. Whether you're struggling with body image, the Adonis Complex, or navigating aging and life transitions, we’ll explore how to meet these changes with compassion, authenticity, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Trauma & Creativity
Early experiences — bullying, rejection, or more overt trauma — can shape how you relate to others and how freely you express yourself. If you're feeling blocked creatively or carrying unprocessed pain, we’ll create a space to reconnect with parts of yourself that may have gone quiet. Our work honors both the weight of past experiences and the possibility of moving forward with clarity, expression, and agency.
About Me
Living in the fast-paced, high-pressure environment of New York City can often have you running on auto pilot. As a former dancer and fitness professional, I have felt the pressure to perform, compete, and keep chasing the next milestone—whether in your career, relationships, or personal life.

Therapeutic Approach
Many gay men move through life on repeat, guided by patterns and beliefs formed long ago—sometimes in response to pain, rejection, or loss. In therapy, we slow things down.
